New initiative in Ålesund

A lack of transport can be a barrier to participating in various leisure activities. With support from Sparebanken Møre and using the Nimmo platform, Ålesund Sports Council and Ålesund municipality will establish a transport service that makes it easier for children and young people to take part in organised activities.

The initiative comes from a projcect called “Nærmiljøskoleprosjektet” at Aspøya. The goal is to strengthen the school as a vibrant and inclusive community hub. Including activity outside of regular school hours.

One of the initiatives is to encourage and facilitate participation in both organised and unorganised leisure activities.

To make it easier for children and young people to participate, two different transport services will be established as part of the project.

  • On Wednesdays, there will be transport to and from the sports after-school programme (IFO) at Osane sports hall. This will be available to pupils at Aspøy and Hessa schools.

  • On Thursdays, an afternoon route will pick up children from several schools and then drive them to various activity venues around Ålesund.

The Nimmo platform is used to organise and plan the routes, and everyone using the transport must book their journey through the Nimmo app.

We look forward to a new project in our local area and are incredibly proud and happy that Nimmo can help more children and young people participate in activities!
